Honeywell LP-860 Lightning Sensor Processor — P/N 7011822-904
Condition: As Removed, Working
The Honeywell LP-860 is the lightning sensor processor for the Honeywell Lightning Sensor System (LSS). The LSS detects both visible and high-energy invisible electromagnetic and electrostatic discharges associated with lightning, identifying areas of turbulent and convective weather activity. By evaluating the LSS display alongside onboard weather radar returns, flight crews can plan a course to avoid hazardous weather. The LP-860 is the processing unit at the heart of that system.
This unit was removed from a Cessna Citation 560 XLS. It was in service and functional at the time of removal.
