Make your Lightspeed quiet again
Worn ear seals are the most common reason a Lightspeed headset stops sounding as quiet as it used to. ANR works against a sealed cavity around your ear. When the foam compresses or the covering cracks, the seal leaks and noise reduction drops, gradually enough that most pilots blame the electronics first.
We stock genuine Lightspeed ear seals, refresher kits and mic muffs at our Orlando office, ready to ship.

Signs it’s time to replace
It’s not as quiet
At the same power setting, you hear more engine than you used to. The seal is leaking low-frequency noise past the ANR.
The air test
Hold a seal up and try to draw air through its surface. If air passes, it no longer seals, however good it looks.
Cracks or flat foam
Covering that cracks, flakes or peels, or foam that stays compressed instead of springing back.
“You’re breaking up”
A missing or crumbling mic muff lets cabin noise, breath and wind into your transmissions.
Kit or individual parts?
Ear seals + 2 mic muffs, bought separately
Refresher Kit A131 or A134
For $8 more, the kit adds a fresh head pad. If your headset is at or past 18 months, the kit is the better buy. If only the seals are worn, the A490 pair is enough.
Install in about two minutes
Pull off the old seals
Give each ear seal and the head pad a gentle tug to release it. No tools, no disassembly.
Click the new ones in
Line up the new ear seals and head pad and press until they click into place.
Swap the mic muff
Slide the old foam off the boom and the new one on. Keep the spare in your flight bag.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I replace Lightspeed ear seals?
Lightspeed recommends replacing headset soft goods (ear seals, head pads and mic muffs) every 18 months to keep peak ANR performance and comfort. Replace sooner if the seals crack, flatten or fail the air test.
Will worn ear seals really affect noise reduction?
Yes. Active noise reduction cancels what reaches the ear inside a sealed cup. A leaking seal lets low-frequency noise bypass the system, and passive attenuation of higher frequencies depends on the same seal. Pilots who suspect a failed ANR circuit often find the cushions are the real problem.
Which refresher kit fits my headset?
Kit A131 is for Zulu series headsets (Delta Zulu, Zulu 4, Zulu 3 and the legacy Zulu 2, original Zulu and Zulu PFX). Kit A134 is for Sierra and Tango. The ear seals and mic muffs are the same in both. The difference is the head pad.
Do I need a mic muff?
Yes. All Lightspeed headset microphones are calibrated for use with a wind screen fitted. Without one, transmissions pick up cabin noise, breath and wind. A missing muff is a common cause of “you’re breaking up” calls on an otherwise healthy headset.
Are ear seals covered by the Lightspeed warranty?
No. Ear seals, head pads and mic muffs are wear items excluded from the headset warranty by design, and they are meant to be replaced by the owner.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International orders ship from our Orlando office, insured at declared value. Import duties, taxes and customs fees are the responsibility of the consignee.
